ICD / ICS Course/Class Policies
NO FOOD IS PERMITTED IN THE LABS. If you need to eat, please ask the teacher to excuse you and eat in the hallway with their permission.
Dispose of all garbage BEFORE returning to the room (ie. in a hallway waste receptacle). Wash your hands before returning to the class. Thank you.
If you want to use your own laptop, please choose a seat along the outside walls/windows as they have electrical outlets. DO NOT unplug school computers to plug in your own equipment.
DO NOT disconnect mice, keyboards, monitors or other parts of the school computers.
Do NOT change the settings on classroom monitors/desktops.
Do NOT turn off computers at the end of the period. It slows down the next student from logging in.
THE MOST IMPORTANT GUIDELINE for success in this course:
If you are having difficulty, please talk to your teacher IMMEDIATELY. Don't lose time because you don't understand something. Now is the time to learn to advocate for yourself.
THE SECOND MOST IMPORTANT GUIDELINE for success in this course:
Web-surfing, texting, using social media and partaking of time-wasting activities that use up class time the teacher has provided for assignment work is a MARK KILLER. Use self-regulation to make best use of your class time to accomplish course objectives. You will not be granted extensions because you've been using class time for non-course-related work (that includes doing work and/or studying for other classes. Your Science and English teachers don't permit you to do ICS work in their class time. Same policy applies here.

THE THIRD MOST IMPORTANT GUIDELINE for success in this course:
You will likely NOT have enough class time to complete all assignments in provided class work periods only. It is your responsibility to work on your own time at home to make sure you complete assignments on time.
"I like to do my computer work at home."
Computer Work is done during assigned computer work periods. Doing other course work is not acceptable. Your teacher gives you time to do computer work in class time, use that class time for the assigned computer work please.
A few words about protecting your work:
1. During tests, quizzes, assignments and other submitted work, protect your papers/tests/quizzes/ programs from
wandering eyes. Copying of answers/work may affect all parties with identical and near-identical answers.
2. Your teacher may make photocopies of tests and other submitted work before returning it to you.
3. BUY A USB DRIVE. They're cheap insurance against data loss.
4. BACK UP YOUR WORK FREQUENTLY TO A USB DRIVE OR TO THE CLOUD. "I lost my project" will not be accepted
as an excuse for time extension.
5. If you're in a Java course, just saving a copy of the .java file is not enough of a backup. You need the ENTIRE PROJECT FOLDER.
